The Makings of a Wedding Gown

“So, you’re engaged to the partner of your dreams? That is sooooo amazing! What is the one of the first things that a Bride-To-Be thinks about? Yes, it is the gown of her dreams.”

-Terri Owens

Wedding gowns can be traditional, modern, or over the top outrageous! They can be over the top in color and style. They can be ball gowns that stretch for miles, gowns that are all lace or even all sheer! They could even be jumpsuits: pants with an overlaid skirt. There is certainly no shortage of inspiration to choose from!

Terri Owens is the designer for you.  She specializes in just those types of pieces.  She will help you figure just the right piece for you and your wedding by giving you that special one on one consultation.  When you leave the first appointment you will have a clear cut and concise picture of how you are going to look on that special day.

So if you are looking for that one-of-a-kind piece that has not been designed for hundreds or even thousands of other brides, or if you would like to be the best bride you can be with one on one attention, then Made To Order Designs is the place for you.

Budget

STAGE 1 — BUDGET

While the national average of a wedding dress is $1,631.00, dress prices are based on various factors and generally range from $500.00 to $4,000.00.   Figuring out how much you want to spend on the one piece that you are going to wear on the most important day is the most important part of this process.  Some brides have a hefty and some have modest budget.  Either way, you still want to look amazing.

STAGE 2 — Style

Finding the perfect style to suit your silhouette, size and style is the next step in the process.  Figuring out what you want to wear down the aisle is one of the most important tasks you will do for the wedding day.  On your first consultation we will look at the different styles of wedding gowns.

STAGE 3 — Fabric

Once we have determined what style of gown you are going to wear, we need to determine the type of fabrics you want to use.  There are so many types of fabrics such as satin, organza, tulle, silk, taffeta, charmeuse, brocade and crepe just to name a few.  There is an endless array of fabrics to choose from.

STAGE 4 — LACE

Determining what type of lace, you want to use on your gown is sometimes tricky.  There are so many kinds of lace such as Chantilly lace.  This is one of the most delicate laces out there.  If you are looking for a more of a soft and detailed lace, this one may be for you. Gulpure Lace is a high end lace. If you have the budget this may be the one for you.  There is a wide variety of lace to choose from.  Sometimes you have a bride that does not want any lace at all and that is perfectly fine.  It is a personal choice.

Stage 5 — EMBELLISHMENTS

Now here is the time to get creative.  It is time to add rhinestones, appliques, beads, 3-D flowers and much, much more.  You can choose to add as much or as little as you would like.  Some brides love a lot of bling and sparkle and some brides are a little modest and just want a little here and there.  Whatever you choose, make sure bling fits the style of the dress because bling is always fun.  At this point I will go and get fabric swatches for you to choose from.  Once you have made those choices, we are off to the races.

Stage 6 —  Illustrational Drawing

Once we have figured out style, budget, fabric, lace and embellishment, it is time for me to design your incredibly special gown on paper.  You will be able to get an idea of what your gown will look like.  At this point you can make any necessary style changes.  At the end of our process this drawing will be a gift from me to you.
